Craig A. Holdiman, 77, of Waterloo, died July 30, 2026, at Wellsprings Health Center in Waterloo. He was born January 31, 1949, in Waterloo, the son of Arthur R. and Evelyn M. (Taber) Holdiman. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1967 and from the University of Northern Iowa in 1971.
He married Sharon Buenger June 5, 1982, in Frederika at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Out of college, Craig taught chemistry for one year at Blessed Sacrament which he gained some great relationships with students but learned teaching was not for him. He then worked at First Federal Savings and Loan as an appraiser. Later, he owned and operated Holdiman Appraisals since 1985 and retired after 53 years of appraising properties.
Craig was a member of the First Congregational Church where he was actively serving. He was Past President of Waterloo Exchange Club, the Heartland District Exchange Club and was Past President of the Waterloo School Board. He was a member of the Proud Image Chorus. Craig was also in the Royal Drum and Bugle Corp, when he aged out, he became an instructor. He served in several counties and city civic organizations over the years. He had a passion for older cars and could generally tell the year and style just by the roar of the engine.
Craig is survived by his wife Sharon of Waterloo; his children, Sara (Brian) Lynch of Waterloo and Clark (Cherie) Holdiman of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Corina Holdiman, Callie Holdiman and Mackenzie Lynch; his stepmother, Sandy Holdiman of Cedar Falls; two stepbrothers, Steve (Denise) Miller of Waterloo and Bryan Miller of the Philippines.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services are 11:00 am Friday, August 7, 2026, at the First Congregational Church, Waterloo.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00pm Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, Waterloo.
