In Loving Memory of Connie Kay Hobson
June 2, 1955 – February 25, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Connie Kay Hobson, aged 68, of Waterloo. Connie passed away on February 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. Born on June 2, 1955, to Ronald and Darlene (Flage) Winkie in Waukon, Connie's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.
On May 24, 1975, Connie exchanged vows with the love of her life, Matt Hobson, in a ceremony at the Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon. Their bond was a source of strength and warmth that helped guide them through good and difficult times.
Connie graduated from Waukon High School and soon moved to Waterloo. Two positions she was the most proud of were working with the City of Cedar Falls and later at the Financial Decisions Group in the role of financial assistant. Connie also found fulfillment in volunteering at MercyOne and in a kindergarten classroom at Becker Elementary School in Waterloo. She enjoyed helping others and working with children and she also remained a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in rural Waukon.
Above all, Connie cherished her family. Whether camping beneath the stars or sharing laughter around a campfire, her time with Matt, their daughters, and grandchildren was her greatest joy. Her love knew no bounds, and her legacy of love will forever inspire those she leaves behind.
Connie is survived by her beloved husband, Matt Hobson of Waterloo; daughters, Rebecca (Roger) Wooden of Buckingham and Katie Unland (Chad Clark) of Cedar Falls; brothers, Brad (Linda) Winkie of Waukon, and Brian (JoAnn) Winkie of Palo; and 5 grandchildren, Reese, Landon, and Abigail Wooden, Natalie Unland, and Cale Clark.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Peggy Berg; and daughter, Crystal Hobson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. At 2:00 p.m. there will be a prayer and time for sharing of memories.
