Clarissa Marie Ahlen, 71, of Waterloo, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center-Waterloo.

Clarissa was born on September 23, 1954, in Denver, Colorado, to Ralph and Verna (Weldon) Phelps. She graduated from Denver High School in 1972. Clarissa and her partner, Robert “Bob” Harting spent 30 years together prior to Bob’s passing on December 4, 2025.

Clarissa was extremely easy-going, however wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. She loved a good word search and doing crossword puzzles.

She is also preceded in death by her brother, Tony Phelps.

Clarissa is survived by her parents, Ralph and Verna Phelps of Demotte, IN; children, Michelle (Dale) Hartman of MO and Josh Ahlen of Waterloo; brothers, Danny (Monica) Phelps of Des Moines, Craig (Brenda) Phelps of Denver, and Tim (Cathy) Phelps of Lake Village, IN; sister, Lori (Jim) Glade of Crown Point, IN; grandchildren, Elijah and Emily; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation and Funeral Service: the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial to take place at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
