Dave, Shonda and Betty…(I think I met Shonda at karma once)

Since the moment I heard the news that Casey was gone I have been in shock. I have never met a nicer person, a woman who, unless you did something to really annoy her or give her a good reason to not like you, was never mean to anyone. I haven’t been to karaoke anywhere since….2019…or early 2020 before covid hit…I always like clockwork on Friday nights would think I should have gone to see Casey…I never made it. Everyone knew her as Mama Casey….so one night somebody sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” without missing a beat the infamous line at the beginning “Mama just killed a man” over the singer you hear “I did?” And see Casey shrugging her shoulders like it wasn’t me…my favorite moment ever was singing the boxer and how she knew just the right time to come in on the chorus. I learned a lot from her about singing and about life…I might have to come out of retirement for one night only….and do a little Simon and Garfunkel for mama Casey…3 songs….Mrs.Robinson, The Boxer….and because she told me my rendition of it was the worst ever…haha Bridge over troubled water….Casey is truly a legend in Waterloo for Karaoke she always knew what to say, when to say it and how to say it so it didn’t hurt….sometimes…so here’s to mama Casey I’ll never ever forget you and know your up in heaven with my dad singing all the Willie Nelson songs…I love you Mama….I’m sorry we lost touch…one last thing…a quote from Ozzy Osborne “god knows I’ll see you, see you on the other side.”

  5. Kaitlin K says:

Sending condolences for Dave and the rest of the family. My parents (Rick and Kris Snyder) loved to spend time with her and Dave. Some of my Dad’s best memories were getting to sing Karaoke alongside Casey. He always made sure to follow Dave and Casey to any bar they went.

  6. Anna Davis says:

We are so very saddened in the passing of our very dear sweet Casey. We will always think of Casey as family, as she was always so good to Scott and me and to Mom Irene and Dad Jim. Our hearts are with Dave and all of the family. With Deepest Condolences, Anna

  7. Kimberly ( Davis ) Chien & family says:

Dave and family ~ We are deeply sorry and saddened to learn of Casey’s passing. I remember the first time I ever met her. She was this amazing Stevie Nicks vision of enchantment and rock and roll, singing for us. I’ll never forget her rendition of Unchained Melody and how she made it seem so effortless with her incredible voice and talent.
Casey was so generous with her time and patience as she and Dave provided so much companionship, love and care to my parents. I know she graced so many others in this way as well and that speaks to the generous heart and kind spirit she possessed.
I know Casey now rests in the eternal grace and love of God’s care.
