Charles Price Smith

Charles Smith, 94, of Waterloo, IA, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at NorthCrest Specialty Care at Waterloo.

Charles Price Smith was born on May 28, 1929 in Durant, MS, to Ludie Sr. and Fannie Cuntliffe Smith.

He worked in Dept 10 Mill Coal at John Deere (Foundry) for 40 years, retiring September 30, 1987.

He was a member of UAW Local 838.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Jordan, Waterloo, Patricia Marshall and Sylvia (Gerald) Lumpkins, both of Rockford, IL; son-in-law, George Ferguson, LaJunta, CO; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Charlene Ferguson; brothers, SW, Ludie Jr. and Lanier Smith; and sisters, Virgis Lenora Stigler and Delteric Wheeler.

Visitation: 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Locke on 4th, 1519 West 4th St., Waterloo.

Homegoing Celebration: 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Locke on 4th.

Burial: Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.
