Charles V. Jones, 89, of Waterloo, formerly of the Moline/Rock Island area, died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo on Monday, February 19, 2007 of complications from a stroke.

He was born July 25, 1917, in Audrain County, Missouri, the son of Charles and Nellie Webb Jones.

He was very proud to have served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre.

Charles married Nell G. Wright on November 1, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri. She died February 11, 1990.

He was a Sales Representative for most of his life. Most recently at Bear Manufacturing from 1965 until retiring in 1979.

Charles was Past Commander and a Lifetime member of the VFW in Moline, Illinois, and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his daughter Karen Jones of Waterloo and brother Thomas Jones of Cedar Rapids.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters, and brothers.

Charlie will always be remembered fondly for his love and care for his family, his courage in serving his country, and a sense of humor that could brighten any day.
