Charles E. “Charlie” Day, 76, of Waterloo, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Saturday (March 19, 2005).

Charlie was born on May 10, 1928, in Winneshiek County, Iowa, the son of Walter and Myrtle (Bowden) Day. On May 26, 1945, he married Delores Thompson in Independence. Over the years Charlie worked for various car dealers in Waterloo, retiring from Waterloo Boat and Motor.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Day of Waterloo; two sons: Larry (Kay) Day, Clear Lake, Tim (Vickie) Day, Waterloo; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, and a brother, James (Natalie) Day, Mission Viejo, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, followed by cremation with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home, 1519 West Fourth Street in Waterloo.
