Carol Diane Barneson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 15, 2026, just days shy of her 86th birthday. Born on September 21, 1940, in Mason City, IA, the daughter of Kenneth Bell and Iola Hagan Bell.

Carol was well known for her warm and caring nature; she truly loved being around people and brightening their days. Her passion for flower gardening brought her immense joy, and she found happiness attending the Tulip Festival in Pella, exploring the Milwaukee Zoo, and celebrating holidays with her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She adored spending time with each of them, and they will forever cherish the memories made with their beloved Grandma.

Carol also had a spirit of adventure and enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to Yellowstone National Park. As a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo, she had a deep sense of community that touched many lives.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Pedersen, of Griffin, GA, and Cheryl (Jeff) Camarata, of Waterloo; her three grandsons, Ryan and Zach Cam
arata of Waterloo and Kendall Pedersen of Cedar Rapids; and her great-grandson, Devin Camarata. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Barneson, brother Gary Bell, a daughter in infancy, and one granddaughter, Megan Pedersen.

Funeral services for Carol will be held on September 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, with a visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to come together to honor and celebrate Carol’s remarkable life. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those she touched.
