Carl Everett Pugh, 75, of Evansdale, passed away on December 30, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital.
He was born on January 18, 1950, in Chicago, IL, the son of Paul Pugh and Patricia Waddell. He attended Waterloo East High School.
Carl served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in the 84th Engineer Battalion from 1970-1972. He married Alice Jean Zingg on October 5, 1968, at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.
He worked for Hudson Construction for several years. He retired after an injury in 1993. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and coaching grandkids ball games. Later on he enjoyed taking care of the local car wash in Maywood.
Carl is survived by his wife, Alice Jean of Evansdale; two daughters, Nicole (Shane) Henninger of Evansdale, and Jennifer (Casey Albright) Hagedorn of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Shane (Kailyn) Henninger, Zach (Andrea) Henninger, Ashley (Jerod) Ledesma, Colton (Jessica Drahos) Henninger, Tayler (Seth) Long, Kylie (Austin Locke) Bosma, and Sydney Hagedorn; 18 (and counting) great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Debra Saffold, Helen Redding, and Tangela Saffold.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Saffold; father, Paul Pugh; a brother, Richard Pugh; and grandparents, Carl and Ruth Waddell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo. Burial at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo, where military rites will be conducted by Iowa Army National Guard Funeral Honor Guard and American Legion Post #138 & VFW Post #1623. Visitation from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park; also, for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
