Burdette R. “Bud” Anderson, age 76, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.

He was born April 6, 1943 in Waterloo, the son of Orval and Bertha (McAninch) Anderson. Bud graduated from Waterloo West High School with the Class of 1961. Bud was united in marriage with Victoria “Vicky” Westemeier on June 8, 1963 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Waterloo.

Bud worked as a forklift operator at Waterloo Industries. He had formerly been employed at Jerald Sulky Co. for five years. He was a past member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing and trapping. He also liked to watch a good stock car race. Bud was a Veteran of the US Army and recently was a part of a Cedar Valley Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., an experience that was one of the highlights of his life, thanks to the efforts of Richard “Dick” Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Vicky of Waterloo; four children, Brenda (Dave) Johnson of Evansdale, Bridget Anderson of Parkersburg, Burdette “Buddy” (Angie) Anderson of Waterloo and Brandy (Brent) Gearhart of Austinville, IA; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Crowell of Independence and Beverly Hall of Epworth; a brother-in-law, Richard Westemeier of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Phyllis Ackerman, Sally Conner and Nancy Jergens; two brothers, William “Bill” Anderson and Rex Anderson.
