Brian “Kelly” Mahncke, 63, of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, died Monday, August 31, 2020, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.
He was born March 23, 1957, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Norman and Shirley Singleton Mahncke.
He attended St. Louis Park High School in Minneapolis and graduated from South Tama County (Iowa) High School in 1974; and later obtained an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Hamilton College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Kelly started out as a roofer and ended his working career in transportation following in his father’s footsteps.
Kelly spent over 34 years with his lifelong companion Lori Litterer, whom he loved deeply. He was an avid Harley-Davidson rider. As a young man, Kelly played hockey during his time at St. Louis Park High School and later became a devoted hockey dad. Kelly recently was promoted to his highest honor, becoming a Grandpa.
He is survived by Lori; a son, Tyler (Tonya) Mahncke of Waterloo; a step-daughter, Devon (Casey) Moran of Elk Run Heights; his granddaughter, Lakelyn Mahncke; two brothers, Mike (Mynon) Mahncke of Washington and Pat Mahncke of Evansdale, Iowa; two sisters, Susan (Pete) Worley of Arizona and Julie (Harold) Duhn of Eldora, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Sandy Mahncke of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Kelly is preceded in death by his parents; a half-brother, Lanny “Butch” Mahncke; a sister-in-law, Judy Mahncke; and a nephew, Michael “Jason” Mahncke.
