Brian J. Pittman, 65, of Waterloo, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at La Porte City Specialty Care in La Porte City surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 15, 1960, in Waterloo, son of James A. and Lois R. Millett Pittman. Brian graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1978. He married Trina Lorenzen on January 22, 1983, at Immanual Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.
Brian worked as a welder and railcar repairman for North American Car Corp., now known as General Electric Railcar, for many years before transferring to quality control and management. He retired in May of 2020.
In his retirement, he adopted crafting and baking to his plethora of talents. Brian enjoyed spending his time outside grilling, cooking, gardening vegetables, tending to his lawn, and hunting and fishing. He and his family spent 27 years at Holiday Lake where he built two log cabins.
Brian is survived by his wife Trina Pittman of Waterloo; three daughters, Sara (Mike Meisch) Pittman of Waterloo, Brooke (Victor) Schrage of Cedar Falls, and Nicole Ryden of Waterloo; son, Justin (Jen) Pittman of Lakeville, MN; nine grandchildren Brayden, Ethan, Olivia, Macey, Madelyn, Gage, Norah, Camden, and Bennett; sister, Becky (Lance) McMahon of Minnesota City, MN; and large extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life Services: 1:00 – 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Holiday Lake Community Center, at Holiday Lake in Brooklyn, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Locke at Tower Park is assisting the family, 4140 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo, 319-233-3146.
