Betty Anne Harris

September 4, 1954 October 13, 2024

Betty “Betty Boop” Harris, 70, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her home. She was born September 4, 1954, in Waterloo, daughter of Robert and Maxine (Pink) Satterlee.

Betty worked at John Deere for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. She was a proud member of the NRA, UAW #838, ASPCA, WWF and Grace Lutheran Church. Betty married Dick Kirkpatrick, later divorced, married Bruce Wilson, later divorced. Betty then met the love of her life, Greg Harris, while working at John Deere. They married on March 31, 1991, and spent 32 years together. Betty adored and loved her family unconditionally, including her “one and only” babygirl, Tiffini; son-in-law, Jon-Boy; her grandbabies, Jordy-B, Braidy-B, and Deric James; and her five great-grandbabies, Kasen James, Wesley Woo, Ali-Girl and Staley-Girl.

She is survived by her husband, Greg Harris, of Waterloo. Her daughter, Tiffini (Jon) Kieler of Waterloo. Her grandbabies, Jordyn (Jason) Werkmeister, Braidynn (Edis) Bauman and Deric Kieler. Her stepchildren, Allyn (Kim) Kirkpatrick, Mitch (Tanya) Kirkpatrick, Keri (Jim) Hartman, Jennifer Harris, Lisa Koch and Adam (Angie) Harris. Sister, Becky Dumler. Three brothers, Bob (Vicky) Satterlee, Dick (Melinda) Satterlee and Ron (Lisa) Satterlee. And many nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents. Her sisters, Roberta Cronan, and Nancy Satterlee and brother-in-law. Dennis Dumler.

A free spirit at heart, Betty loved rock and roll-especially Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and The Doors. She loved being in nature, often enjoying time exploring the outdoors, especially trout fishing at Backbone. Her youthful energy extended to fast cars, with her 76′ silver Camaro being one of her prized possessions. Known for her wild side, Betty wasn’t shy about living life to the fullest, including her love of loud music, good times and even enjoying a “little toke” every now and then.

Above all, Betty’s greatest love was her family. Her kind heart and fun-loving nature will be deeply missed. As we know, she has now found her “Spirt in the Sky” and her finally climbed her “Stairway to Heaven.” We hope that she has finally become that guitar she always knew she should’ve been.
