Betty Ann Ann Harvey

Betty Ann Harvey, 91, of Clovis, California, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her home under hospice care.

Betty was born on December 3, 1933, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Wesley K. and Beulah P. (Kimbely) Peverill. She was a graduate of Waterloo West High School. Bett married Ken Lantz on November 6, 1955, and they later divorced. She later married her second husband, Merle Harvey, on July 31, 1968, in Galena, Illinois; he preceded her in death on December 24, 2001.

Betty worked as a nurse’s aide for a brief time but was a stay-at-home mom. She was a kind and gentle soul. She lived in Iowa for 84 years, then lived with her daughter Brenda Zarifis and son-in-law Jeff Zarifis for seven years in Clovis, California.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Douglas Peverill; and sister Sandra Eide.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Jeff) Zarifis of Clovis, CA; son, Mark Lantz of Waterloo, IA; her five stepchildren, Penny Ramirez of Evansdale, IA, Cindy Becerra of Cedar Falls, IA, Becky Peterson of Taylors Falls, MN, David Harvey of Chisago, MN, and Tammy Guzman of St. Paul, MN; two sisters, Beverly Shaffer of Middleton, WI and Mary Jo Jordan of Waterloo, IA; 15 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Locke Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo. Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment to take place at Garden of Memories Cemetery-Waterloo.
