Berniece Emeline Marquardt

Berniece Emeline Marquardt, 82, of Evansdale died on Friday, April 18, 2025 at her home. She was born April 2, 1943, in Waterloo, daughter of Charles Edward and Berniece Emeline (Reed) Burns. She attended Waterloo East High School.

Berniece married Verdale Victor Marquardt on October 29, 1961, at the Grace Methodist Church, Waterloo. He died March 9, 2021. Together, they celebrated 59 years. She was a homemaker in her own home over the years and in her free time she sold Avon.

She enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Berniece could be found collecting antiques, especially clocks, and curio cabinets. She loved her "Hawkeyes" and her "Vikings." Frequently, she would enjoy a sandwich at Burger King, always finding the coupons for the best deal.

Berniece is survived by her daughter, Denise (Mike)Woods of Evansdale; four grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremy) Weaver, Ryan (Helen) Woods, Tyler (Jenny) Woods, and Adam (Ariel) Woods; six great grandchildren, James "Jimmy", Hailey, Jackson, Mila, Liam, and Carson; nephew, Ben (Kelly) Reeves; and special companion, her cat "Precious".

She is preceded in death by her husband, Verdale, and sister, Christine Deeds.
