Bernice Chloe (Howe) Price, 75, of Ottumwa, formerly of Chillicothe, IA, died at six thirty p.m. on November 12, 2013 at her sister’s home in Evansdale, following a battle against cancer.

She was born March 29, 1938 in Cresco, Iowa the daughter of Orson “Bill” Howe and Lucille (Macal) Ingeltheron.

On August 26, 1955, she married Charles A. Price in Independence, IA and moved to Avery, IA and then to Chillicothe where they raised their three children. Bernice worked as a substitute at the U.S. Post Office until she became the Postmistress at the Chillicothe Post Office in 1976 and then retired from the Post Office after 23 years of service. She had a great love for children and showed this in her volunteer work at the Ottumwa Schools in the Foster Grandparents Program, which she was involved in for four years. Bernice’s favorite past time was Bingo and being with her family and friends. A special mention from her family about the love and involvement she had with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children: Terry Allen (Leann) Price of Eldon, Kari Lynn (Dave) Gates of Ottumwa and Larry Mark Price of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Tara Ann (William) Mundell, Trenton Allen Price, Cody Allen Price and Kaytlin Rose Branham; two great-grandchildren, Keyton and Keely; two sisters, Mary (Wayne) Ehrig and Marlene Ahends; two brothers, David Krall and Mike Krall, all of Evansdale; as well as 8 nieces, 12 nephews, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Lucille, a brother, Lester Howe, and two sisters, Bonnie Johannessen and Nancy Krall.
