Berdine Ann Cole

Berdine A. Cole, 85, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

She was born April 30, 1939, in Waterloo, daughter of William F. and Laura E. Koepke Sass. Berdine married David Cole, Sr., on September 16, 1961. They later divorced. She worked as a teachers' aid for 30 years at Waterloo's McKinstry School. She retired in 2001. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Berdine loved watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball games.

Berdine is survived by her daughter, Sherry Cole of Waterloo; daughter-in-law, Ann Cole of Florida; three grandchildren, David (Katie) Cole, Tiffany (Nick) Garrison, and Ashley (Aden) Craft of Waterloo; several great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Sankey of Red Oak; and niece and nephew, Leslie and John.

She was preceded in death by her parents; fiancé, Leland Powers; son, David Cole, Jr.; brothers, Luverne, Donald, and Wilbert H. Sass; and five sisters, Luella Brown, Laurine Schrock, Beverly Cunningham, and Arlene Dobbins

Funeral Services: 10:00 AM, Friday, June 14, 2024, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation for one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family
