Arlene Mae Sheehy 91, of The Martin Center Western Home Communities Cedar Falls, died Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Martin Center of natural causes.

She was born July 21, 1922 in Delaware, Iowa the daughter of Carl and Mamie (Smith) Larson. Arlene graduated from Delhi High School and later attended Gates Business College in Waterloo. She married Jack J. Sheehy on October 16, 1954 in Waterloo, and he preceded her in death on August 30, 1964. Arlene worked as the House Mother for the YWCA for 10 years until her retirement in July of 1984. She was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church until its closing and then became a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her cousin Florence (Jerome) Curtis of Waterloo; her special nephew Bruce Holthaus of Glendora, California; and many other cousins around the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Gerald and Elwin Larson, and her sister Hazel Holthaus.
