Anita Paw Poe, 33, of Waterloo, died suddenly at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Thursday, July 16, 2026. She was born on August 29, 1992, in Myanmar, the daughter of Po Tha Kyaw and Mu Dah. Anita came to the United States in 2010, became a naturalized US Citizen and married Saw Howdy in Waterloo.

Anita was a very happy person who was always willing to help the community. She was a very good cook and took pride in caring for her family. Anita loved to sing and was very close to her family.

Anita is survived by her husband, Saw Howdy, of Waterloo; daughter, Nia Poe of Waterloo; son, Jesper Poe of Waterloo; parents, Po Tha Kyaw and Mu Dah of San Diego; brother, Nyein Oo of Myanmar; sisters, Sue Tha Lay Paw of San Diego, Eah Aung of Auburn, WA, and New Wah Paw Po of San Diego; brother, Maung Maung Lay of Minneapolis; and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Anita will be Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Waterloo Seventh-day Adventist Church, 550 W Airline Highway, Waterloo, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
