Allen Kaestner, 69, of Vinton, formerly of Waterloo, died at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton on Thursday, April 18, 2013 of cancer.

Allen Eilert Kaestner was born December 29, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Ferdinand and Evelyn Jans Kaestner.

He married Pamela Pohlman December 14, 1968 in Waterloo and later divorced after 34 years.

Allen grew up in Waterloo and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1963. Allen retired from Weissman Steel due to a disability in 1971.

Allen is survived by his brother Larry and wife Claudia of Cedar Falls and his ex-wife Pam. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother David.
