Allan Curtis Westin

Allan Curtis Westin, 74, of Waterloo passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, while a patient at Ravenwood Specialty Care. He was born on August 17, 1947, in Waterloo, the son of Roland and Maxine Bakke Westin. Allan graduated from West High School and received an Associate of Arts degree in Botany from Hawkeye Institute of Technology. He married Rhonda Marts on October 17, 1971, and the couple was blessed with two daughters.

Allan served two tours in Vietnam with the US Army working in intelligence. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). Allan worked as a concrete mason where he retired in 2009. He enjoyed woodworking and made some furniture that the family used in the home. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Allan was especially proud of being married to Rhonda for 50 years in October 2021.

Allan is survived by his wife, Rhonda, of Waterloo; daughters Sarah (Jamie) Forsythe and Elizabeth (Ryan Lovell) Westin, both of Waterloo; grandchildren, Carter Forsythe, Cameron Forsythe, and Wyatt Lovell; brothers Thomas (Ann) Demarest of North Carolina and Richard (Julie) Westin of Waterloo; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services for Allan will be Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo with inurnment and military honors to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
