Albert Byron Little, 82 of Waterloo, died at Oak Park Estates Friday, October 30, 2026, with family by his side. He was born June 12, 1944, in Garden City, KS, son of Everett Vernon and Eilene Jane (Hooper) Little. He graduated from East High School in Wichita, KS in 1962. Following high school, Al enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served as a Medic and was Honorably discharged in 1966. He married Gloria Graves on October 13, 1972, at the family home in Boone, IA.
After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked as an EMT. He switched careers and began training as a real estate appraiser. Al owned and operated his own business as a Real Estate Appraiser, “Appraisal Associates” from 1982 to 2006.
Al and Gloria were members of the Grace Methodist Church until it closed. When he wasn’t working in the office or out taking pictures, he could be found working in the yard, enjoying a conversation with the neighbors, working in his garden or just enjoying a good book. Al loved to read and kept track of the books he had read and enjoyed a trip to the library. Al enjoyed helping others and was always there to lend a helping hand. He spent one morning a week volunteering at the Salvation Army meal program during his working years. He played Santa for many years at schools and care centers. Al said his goal in life was to be a good husband and father and he achieved that goal.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his daughters, Karla and Roger Byerly of Jesup and Kelly and Robert Eder of Waianae, Oahu, HI; two sons, Andrew (Michele) Little of Avondale, PA and Keith Little of Waterloo; nine grandchildren and many, many, great grandchildren.
Al is preceded in death by his grandson, Casey Little; sister, Sharon Wolken; brother, Everett V. Little Jr.; and his little dog, Molly.
Celebration of life gathering will be in the spring of 2027.
Memorials are directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice.
