Addeen Laraine Petersen, 94, of Aurora, died at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Friday, January 12, 2018 of natural causes.

Addeen was born on May 5, 1923 in Le High, Iowa, daughter of Eli and Ethel (Dutcher) Akins.

She married Lawrence Petersen on August 23, 1942; he preceded her in death on May 24, 1999.

Addeen was a waitress and bartender for several restaurants, including Brown Bottle, Vernie’s, and Carl’s Place. She enjoyed reading, gardening, country music, dancing, and animals.

She is survived by: six children: Lynn Marquand of Waterloo, Doug (Lucy) Petersen of Waterloo, Erik Petersen of Evansdale, Gregg Petersen of Waterloo, Jan (Ken) Mason of Grundy Center, and LeeAnn (Russ) Howe of South Dakota; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special friend Virginia Wilson of California.

Addeen was preceded in death by: her husband, Lawrence; her partner, Gene Mason; a son, Lawrence Petersen, Jr.; and a daughter, Gayle Petersen.
