What is a funeral director?
Although a funeral director may have many responsibilities, their main concern is providing compassionate care to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. By giving unparalleled support, a funeral director is able to assist you with the funeral planning process to ensure your wishes are met.
What happens at my first meeting with a funeral director?
Our goal is to help you feel comfortable throughout the entire planning process. The first meeting, or arrangement conference, will be a time where we can answer any questions you may have or address any concerns that have come up. We will go over the options and costs associated with your wishes or those of a loved one. Although this meeting can extend 2 or 3 hours, it is a time where you can feel heard and know that a helping hand is always available.
What information will a funeral director help me with?
Your funeral director is a source of unlimited information when it comes to addressing your funeral needs. They will walk you through the entire planning process while using the care needed during this difficult time. This includes some official paperwork as well as some formalities such as:
-
Death certificates
-
Newspaper notifications
-
Obituaries
-
Planning elements for the funeral
-
Social Security notification
Your funeral director will also assist you with all aspects of funeral planning such as deciding between burial and cremation, the location of the funeral, the dates and times of the wake, as well as information on any other service options you may want.
How will the funeral director help on the day of the funeral?
As they have been throughout the process, your funeral director will be there on the day of the funeral. Beyond being someone to lean on, your director will help lead the procession and make sure the day runs smoothly. This includes making sure that all of your or your loved one’s wishes are carried out respectfully and compassionately.
We understand that funeral planning can feel overwhelming. Your funeral director is your personal resource throughout the process.
