Timothy M. Devine, affectionately known as Andy, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, surrounded by family at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Andy was born August 15, 1955, in Harvey, IL, to Bernard and Rita (Riberdy) Devine. After graduating from Thorton Township High School in 1973, he earned an associate’s degree from Thorton Community College. He married Beth Ernd on December 5, 1976, in South Holland, IL, and they were preparing to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary later this year.

In 1976, Andy joined the PGA of America apprenticeship program, bringing him and Beth to Iowa. After holding various positions at golf courses across the state, they settled in Waterloo. Andy served 10 years as head golf professional at Sunnyside Country Club before taking the same role at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course, where he later retired.

Throughout his distinguished career, Andy was honored as Iowa PGA Teacher of the Year and Iowa PGA Golf Professional of the Year. A lifetime member of the PGA of America, he led the Iowa PGA section as president from 1995 to 1997. Committed to the profession and to developing aspiring golfers, he also taught at John Jacob’s Golf Schools in Florida, Arizona, and California.

Andy will be remembered as an advocate for adaptive golf who treasured his visit to Walter Reed Medical Center. Each year, he partnered with the Husome Strong Foundation and the Iowa Amputee Golf Association to share his love of the game with others.

Andy championed junior golf throughout Iowa and the Waterloo community. Passionate about making the sport accessible and affordable for young and aspiring players, he hosted events with PGA and Waterloo junior golf organizations.

True to his Illinois roots, Andy loved Chicago sports-except for the Cubs. An avid college football fan, he followed every fall Saturday’s lineups and point spreads. His family will miss hearing him cheer for the New York Jets and chant, “J-E-T-S!, JETS, JETS, JETS!”

Andy and Beth traveled the world, but his favorite trips were those shared with Beth, their daughters, and their families. A loving, devoted father known as “Batman”, he always had his cape ready whenever they needed him. A constant hero who never turned down a dance party featuring his favorite songs, Andy cherished good times with family and friends. He was the proudest Papa, supporting and cheering on his grandchildren in every endeavor and attending as many of their sporting and school events as possible, with a popcorn in hand. Amongst all of his accomplishments, marrying his high school sweetheart, Beth, was his greatest.

When Andy retired in 2019, he received a donated kidney, a selfless gift for which he and his family remain forever grateful.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Patrick “Andy” Devine.

Andy is survived by his wife, Beth Devine of Waterloo; daughters, Katie (Michael) Landers of Waterloo and Amy (Drew) Meyers of West Des Moines; three grandchildren, Ally and Andy Landers and Finn Meyers; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews; and his dog, Lily.

Celebration of Life Gathering: The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo, IA.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
