Jackie “Jack” Lee White, born on December 8, 1940, in Nashua, Iowa, passed away peacefully from lung cancer on September 13, 2026, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was known for his warmth and kindness.
Jack spent his career in healthcare as an orthopedic assistant, materials manager, and radiology tech in the community, where he touched the lives of many with his compassion and commitment to helping others. He was truly a “Jack of all trades”.
Jack treasured his family above all else. He is survived by his daughter, Maria (Brad) Metcalf, and sons Michael (Lisa) White and Patrick (Sheila) White. Jack also leaves behind a sister, Bette (Dean) Drescher, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends who will remember him fondly for his gentle spirit and warm smile. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Evelyn White, a sister Darla Casebolt, and a brother Tony White.
Jack’s life will be celebrated in a meaningful memorial open house to be held on October 30, 2026, from 5-7 pm, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, where the family is inviting everyone who knew and loved Jack to join to commemorate his remarkable life. To Bette, Maria, Mike and Pat, very sorry to hear the sad news, heartfelt condolences to all of you, your spouses, your children and your children’s children, and all those who were fortunate enough to have met and known him. I hope and pray that after the mourning and grief have grown less strong that we all can look back on his life as one that was well lived. He was always ready to help anyone in need, and quick with his wit and humor. I can still see his smile and hear his laughter. In between moments of sadness I hope the support of family and loved ones will make his passing a little less painful although I know the desire to spend one more day will never leave you. May he rest in eternal peace and that those who have passed before him are waiting with open arms and loving hearts as well as our Heavenly Father to welcome him home. God bless you Uncle Jack. you will always be with us.
Oh I am so sorry for your loss… I worked with Jack in some capacity from 1988 until my retirement in 2015.
Jack was a great guy to work with…conscientious, caring, and knowledgeable. He always had a good attitude and seemed to genuinely love his work. He made the operating room a better place to work.
