Willard Wedemeier, 92, of Cedar Falls, IA, died on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Apple Valley Assisted Living at Osage, IA.
Willard was born on August 19, 1932, in rural Sumner, IA, to Louie and Nellie Biermann Wedemeier. He attended Tripoli and Sumner schools and graduated from Sumner High School with the class of 1950.
He married Verla M. Eick on June 5, 1955, in rural Sumner. She died October 14, 2022. Willard and Verla made their home in Waterloo, later moving to Cedar Falls, living there for 60 years.
Willard served in the United States Army during the Korean War, from November 5, 1952, to October 21, 1954 and received an honorable discharge.
He worked as a Machinist/Supervisor at John Deere, retiring in 1985.
Willard loved spending time with the family, restoring antiques, playing cards and wintering in Florida.
He is survived by his daughter, Deb (Bruce) Heitmann of Osage; granddaughter, Echo (Shawn) Mettner of Waterloo; five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; brother, Roger (Elaine) Wedemeier; and brother-in-law, Jim (Vicki) Eick.
Willard is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Steve Wedemeier; brothers, Duane and Romaine Wedemeier; a sister, Mary Blaschke; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Wedemeier.
Services: 11:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Locke Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave., Waterloo.
Visitation for an hour before services at the funeral home.
Burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo with military rites by Iowa Army National Guard Honor Guard and Evansdale AMVETS Post #31.
