TaTahneeka Latece Holmes

TaTahneeka Latece Holmes, 39, of Glendale, AZ and formerly of Waterloo, IA, died on December 23, 2023, at her home. TaTahneeka was born on January 2, 1984, in Waterloo to Yvonne Burnside and Kelvin Earl Holmes.

TaTahneeka graduated from Roy J. Wasson High School in Colorado Springs, CO, in 2002, and furthered her education, receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Upper Iowa University in 2009. She worked her way up the ranks of Wal-Mart in various cities, ending as an Assistant Manager. In 2018, TaTahneeka began a career with Goodwill Industries as an accountant, where she worked until her death.

TaTahneeka had an electrifying personality, with an infectious smile that would light up a room. To her, everyone was family, and thus, she would tell you exactly like it was. TaTahneeka was a loving, kind, sweet, giving person who was down to Earth. She was the best mother, best daughter, best friend you could ever hope for. Not only did her family mean everything to TaTahneeka, but so did her friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert Burnside, and Lennie Ross-Moon; paternal grandpa, John Wesley Holmes; and brother, Kelvin Dion Holmes.

TaTahneeka is survived by her daughters, Camara Amira Dalrymple and Tayla Amara Griffin both of Glendale AZ; her mother, Yvonne Burnside of Peoria, AZ; father, Kelvin (Franchetta) Holmes of Waterloo; siblings, Rashad (Gail) LeFlore of Eagan, MN, Karima Bennett, LaKeysha Holmes, Michael Allen, JaKobe Allen, and Jasmine (Tyler) Webber all of Waterloo and DeMarcus Allen of Atlanta, GA; paternal grandmothers, Thelma Holmes and Glenda Fitch; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA. A Celebration of TaTahneeka's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Antioch Baptist Church, 426 Sumner St., Waterloo, IA. Burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery-Waterloo.
