Scott Paul Van Lengen

Scott Van Lengen, 66, of Hudson, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

Scott was born on July 30, 1959, at Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls, to Paul “Dutch” and Vera (Sells) Van Lengen. He graduated from New Hartford High School in 1978. On July 15, 1989, Scott and Chuck Anderson began their life together, notably celebrating 36 years together last month.

Scott worked for Buckeye Corrugated, formerly Hawkeye Corrugated for 46 years as a forklift operator, recently retiring on July 7, 2025. While he was never one to be a socialite and enjoy the spotlight, Scott was extremely gifted at sewing and creating quilts. He looked forward to the annual Shop Hops as he found joy in visiting all the small-town quilt shops and seeing what fabrics he could add to his extensive collection. Scott was a proud member of his Card Club and could always be found playing 500 with his dear friend, Kathy. Scott and Chuck enjoyed traveling, whether it was to Maui to see their son and his family or to Memphis to stay at the Heartbreak Hotel, an adventure was always had. For the last 14 summers, Scott and Chuck enjoyed taking their camper to Coggon, IA, where they have created everlasting friendships and found peace in their “summer home”.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Calan William Anderson, sister, JoAnn (Kenny) Harken, nephew Bryan Harken, great-nephew, Nikolas Harken, and his beloved dog, Lady.

Scott will be deeply missed by his loving spouse, Chuck Anderson of Hudson; their children, Ryan Michael (Wendy) Anderson of Maui, HI, Jason Carl (Amy) Anderson of Lisbon, IA, and Carisa Ann (Bret) Reuter of Hudson, IA; 8 grandchildren, Cianna, Ty, Nalia, Lohgan, Meier, Raelyn, and Rusher; 2 nephews, Craig and Kevin Harken and their families; 2 dogs, Roxy and Frankie; and friends who have turned into a large extended family in Coggon.

Visitation and Funeral Service: Family to receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo. Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

Private family inurnment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford.
