Robert J. Burger, 76, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

He was born May 11, 1948, in Waterloo, son of Robert H. and Betty Cratsley Burger. Robert earned his associates degree in machining from Hawkeye Community College. He married Judy Meyer on June 3, 1967, in Waterloo.

Robert worked as a machinist at Hawkeye Tool & Die in Jesup. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He loved watching the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed spending his time with his family and woodworking in the garage.

Robert is survived by his wife, Judy of Waterloo; son, Robert "Rob" (Erica) Burger of Elk Run Heights; daughter, Tammy (Mark) Gobeli of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Kyea, Madison, and RJ; sister, Bonnie (Dennis) Sommer; sister-in-law, Janet Meyer; brother-in-law, Jerry Meyer, all of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Services 11:00 AM Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Trinity American Lutheran Church, 605 W 4th St, with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Friday, July 5, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family.
