Mary Jorgenson, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, March 30, 2025, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.
She was born October 20, 1940, in Waterloo, daughter of George and Alice (Hadley) McDowell. She was a 1958 graduate of Waterloo West High School and attended Hawkeye Community College where she received her RN license in 1989.
She married James Eggleston in 1959; they divorced in 1985. She married Clarence Jorgenson on October 8, 1988, in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on July 7, 2005. While married to James Eggleston, she was an EMT in Dysart, and she and James owned and operated The Pizza Place in Dysart for over seven years. After marriage to Clarence, they owned and operated Red’s Body Shop in Waterloo for 15 years.
Mary loved sewing and quilting, and she had a passion for social media. She enjoyed watching NASCAR, feeding and observing the birds, and had a great affection for dogs.
She is survived by her daughters, Thea Eggleston of Waterloo, and Margaret “Marggie” (Kevin) Yung of Marion; son, Dana (Amy) Eggleston of Cedar Falls; stepchildren, Brad, Jeff (LeAnn), Scott, and Mary Jorgenson all of Minnesota; twenty grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jorgenson, stepson Mark Jorgenson, and her parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, with visitation for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley hospice. Locke at Tower Park is assisting the family, 319-233-3146.
