Marvin Duane Miller

Marvin Duane Miller, 90, of Waterloo, passed away Monday, May 20, 2024, at Heritage Care Center in Mason City, IA. He was born August 9, 1933, in Waterloo, the son of Herman and Marina (Kammeyer) Miller. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Readlyn and graduated from Readlyn High School. Marvin married Alberta Iona Schnor on June 15, 1957, in Nashua, IA at the Little Brown Church and he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Marvin served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a carpenter for Cardinal Construction and used his skills to build the family home. Marvin loved to dance and listen to polka music, ride his bike, and play a competitive game of 500.

Marvin is survived by four sons, Ronald (Robin) Miller of Mason City, Randall (Taeko) Miller of Tucson, AZ, Roger (Kim) Miller of Pella, and Rick (Amy) Miller of Gilbert, AZ; four grandchildren, Rachel (Joshua) Heirigs, Kimberly (Aaron) Skipworth, Thomas Miller and Samuel Miller; step grandchildren Tyler Wolfe and Drew Boldt; three great-grandchildren, Jack and Molly Heirigs and McCoy Skipworth; and one brother Robert (Cheryl) Miller of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta, his parents, and brother Elston Miller.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 24, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 4820 Oster Parkway, Cedar Falls, with burial to follow with military honors at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
