Marlys Jane McDonald, 80, of Washburn, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital. She was born January 26, 1941, in Waterloo, the daughter of William Wayne and Marjorie Knipp Foulk. She was a 1958 graduate of Orange High School.

She married Paul G. McDonald on May 20, 1961, at the First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo.

Marlys worked as a Teacher's Assistant and Front Office Administrator for Waterloo Schools, retiring after 36 years.

She was a 4H Leader, Member of Civitan, Moose Lodge, and West High School Booster Club. She was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Washburn.

She enjoyed traveling, ceramics, playing games, card clubs and her grandchildren's activities.

Survived by: her husband, Paul of Washburn; two daughters, Diane McDonald of Polk City, Jan (Doug) Coffin of Washburn; a son, Mark (Dee) McDonald of Adel; eight grandchildren, Lauryn (Brandon) Elliott, Lindsey (Zach) Baker, Lesley (C.J.) Pace, Morgan (Beau) Hook, Jacob McDonald, Nathan McDonald, Madee McDonald, Samantha McDonald; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Henry, Campbell and Lydia; and three brothers, Randy (Deb) Foulk, Richard (Madonna) Foulk, Rod Foulk all of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Arlys Johnson; a brother, Bill Foulk and a sister-in-law, Sally Foulk.
