Laura Mae Colvin

Laura Mae Colvin, 92, of Winnebago, MN, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Fairmont Hospital Hospice in Fairmont.

Laura was born on January 6, 1933, in Fayette, IA, daughter of Arthur and Mina (Bailey) Hare. She grew up helping her dad on their family farm and then as she went into High School, Laura worked for the Humphrey Dairy, where she met Hartley H. Colvin. She graduated from West Union High School in 1949. Laura married Hartley H. Colvin on February 17, 1951, in West Union; he preceded her in death November 26, 1989. Laura and Hartley went on to move to Waterloo where Laura would go on to work for Chamberlin Manufacturing for 28 years. Laura was famous for her Christmas cookies and candies that she enjoyed making for her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and plastic canvas work which she found so much joy in creating pieces of art for others. Laura was an animal lover who never came across a cat or dog she didn't love.

She is also preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Dorothy Colvin.

Laura is survived by her son, Douglas (Melissa) Colvin; daughter, Dawn (Roque) Gonsalez; 3 grandchildren, Dustin (Molly) Colvin, Robert Colvin, and Trent (Iadia) Colvin; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Locke Garden View Chapel with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
