Larry Joseph Gross Jr

Larry J. Gross Jr., 82, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, November 23, 2024 at NorthCrest Specialty Care in Waterloo.

He was born September 23, 1942, in Chicago, son of Lawrence J. "Larry" Sr. and Rose (Rascher) Gross. He graduated from high school in Florida. He married Catherine Strozinski November 29, 1969, in Chicago.

Larry was a systems analyst for John Deere for many years, retiring in 2001. Previously worked at Robert Bosch in Broadview, IL and for Mack Truck working on engines.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. He enjoyed road racing his Corvette and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America. He enjoyed being a pilot. He also enjoyed trapshooting and was a member of the Cedar Falls Gun Club and the Iowa State Trapshooting Association.

Larry is survived by his wife, Cathy Gross of Cedar Falls; three children, Larry Gross III of Garner, Jerod (Erin) Gross of Port Charlotte, FL, and Laura Meyer of O'Fallon, MO; eight grandchildren, Ryan Gross, Rachel Gross, Reece Gross, Erik Meyer, Kale Meyer, Jackie Meyer, Randy Meyer, and Kristyn (Jordan) Suggs; one great-grandson, Kole Suggs; and a brother, William "Bill" (Christine) Gross of Punta Gorda, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Dolores Gross; and a grandson, Dylan Meyer.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to the family.
