Kenneth Boyce, 75, of Waterloo, died Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Northcrest Specialty Care. He was born September 25, 1946, in Waterloo, son of Alto and Barbara (Allen) Boyce. He was baptized October 10, 1946, in Waterloo, and confirmed April 10, 1960, at St. John Lutheran Maxfield Church in Denver. He graduated from Denver High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Navy in February of 1966, serving during Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1971.
After his discharge he managed apartments in Massachusetts and attended school at night, studying truck mechanics. He then moved to Franklinton, NC and worked for Freightliner. In 1991 he moved to Iowa and married Coleen Hennings Halter on July 31, 1991. Together they blended their families.
While living in Iowa Ken worked for Brown National Truck Lease and then Tyson Refrigeration before retiring in 2000. Ken loved fishing, hunting, working on cars, gardening, cooking, and baking. There was nothing he couldn't do.
Ken is survived by his wife Coleen; son, Bryan (Jesi) Boyce of Springfield OR; and children, Michelle (Gary) Minikus of North Liberty, Brad Halter of Cedar Falls, and Dustin Halter of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Brittany (Andrew) Van Sickle, Conner Minikus, Jocelyn Shaffer, Jeorgia Davidson, Blaze Boyce, Atlanta Boyce, and Aidan Minikus; two great-grandchildren, Liam Van Sickle and Leyton Van Sickle; a brother Bill (Shirley) Boyce of Bahama NC, and a sister Barbara Miller of Waverly.
Services will be Thursday, June 30, at 11:00 AM at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
