In Loving Memory of Justina Marie Mims

April 30, 1982 – April 10, 2025

With deep sadness and eternal love, we announce the passing of Justina Marie Mims, who departed this life on April 10, 2025, at the age of 42. Her sudden passing has left a profound emptiness in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Justina was born on April 30, 1982, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Patricia Jackson and the late John L. Mims. She was a woman of quiet strength, quick wit, and a heart large enough to hold space for everyone she met. A devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, friend, and colleague, Justina made an impact wherever she went.

Since 2015, she has served as a supervisor at Fortrex Sanitation (Tyson Foods), where her sharp critical thinking skills and warm spirit made her both a trusted leader and a cherished teammate.

She leaves behind her fiancé, Ngase Didier; mother, Patricia Jackson; stepmother, Melissa Mims, all of Waterloo; sister, Tiffany Jackson of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Sterling Mims and Marcus Mims all of Waterloo; sons, Alonzo Mims, Derek Timmerman (formerly Delaney Scott), and Cole Grieves (formerly Dayonis Griffin) of all Waterloo; daughters, Maleigha Jackson of Charlotte, NC, Shakayla and Jakayla Scott, Daiona Griffin, and Athena Mozese all of Waterloo; nephews Clarence "CK" Wallace of Charlotte, NC, and Jakeyes Mims of Waterloo; niece, Avionna Mims of Waterloo; aunts, Beverly Jones Coleman of Milwaukee, WI, and Cathy "Tootie" Jackson; uncles, William Jackson of Waterloo and Kenneth Jackson of St. Louis, MO; great-aunt, Maybe Caston of Waterloo; and great-uncle, David Powell of Milwaukee, WI.

Justina was preceded in death by her father, John L. Mims; paternal grandparents, Thomas Wright, and Josephine Mims Lee; maternal grandparents, William & Velma Powell Jackson; aunts, Elizabeth Jackson, Diane Lee Jackson, and Linda Lee; and uncles, Michael Jackson and Clarence "Jack" Jackson.

Celebration of life: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave., Waterloo. Family will greet friends one hour prior to Justina's Celebration of life. Repass to follow the service.

Though her time was cut short, Justina lived fully and loved deeply. She will be remembered not for how she died, but for how she lived-with authenticity, loyalty, and compassion.
