John M. Reans, 76, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Harmony, Waterloo.

He was born on February 15, 1949, in Macomb, IL, to Louis E. and Kathryn L. (Shanks) Reans. He enlisted in the Army, graduated from high school and went on to proudly serve as a medic in the 101st Airborne Division from 1966 to 1969 serving two tours in Vietnam. John married Susan Cusmano in August of 1999.

John spent his career working in radio broadcasting, as a Disc Jockey he worked for radio stations in South Carolina, Georgia, and Illinois. Most notably, his weekly radio show, "Sunday Mornings With U" was broadcast across the country in the early 1990's. Prior to retirement, he worked as the Radio Programming Director for KWAY in Waverly, IA.

In 2011, John went back to college continuing his studies in communications, he earned his bachelor's degree from Upper Iowa University and went on to obtain his master's degree from Southern New Hampshire University. He was a member of the National Communication Association (NCA), National Society of Leadership (NSLS), and lifetime members of the VFW and DAV. When he and Susan weren't traveling in their RV, John enjoyed golfing, learning new recipes to try in the kitchen, and curating music playlists, and being with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janice L. Stover.

John is survived by his wife, Susan Cusmano Reans of Waterloo; children, Chris Cusmano of Waterloo, Tony (Rhondell) Cusmano of East Peoria, IL, and Gina (Steve) Purvis of League City, TX; brother, Jim (Vicki) Reans of Waterloo; 6 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his dog, Toby.

Visitation and Funeral Service: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025 at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial following at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the Iowa State Army National Guard and Cedar Falls AmVets #49.
