Joel Dean Williams

Joel Dean Williams was born on August 21, 1938, in Waterloo, son of Russell E Williams and Alverna A (Mueller) Williams. He passed away on March 31, 2026, in Santa Clara, California at the age of 87.

Joel grew up in Waterloo and graduated from East High School in 1957. In the early 1960’s he moved to California, first living in Los Gatos and later settling in Campbell, California, where he worked for the US Postal Service for more than 35 years. He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Cupertino, California. Joel was a faithful Christian, enjoyed following Iowa sports as well as 49ers football, and loved the California weather.

Joel was preceded in death by his parents, a brother David Williams, a sister Marcia Williams, and a niece, Carissa Williams. He is survived by a brother Loren (Jan) Williams of Cedar Falls, and nephews and nieces Matthew (Julie Hanus) Williams, Kelsey (Dale Stout) Williams, Wade Williams, and Amber Williams.

Services for Joel were held on Friday, April 10, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Cupertino. A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 1:00PM, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.
