Jerry James Hamlyn

Jerry James Hamlyn, 80, of Cedar Falls, received his wings to Heaven on April 18, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center-Waterloo surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born on June 29, 1944, in Waterloo, to Gerald C. and Luella F. (Lembrick) Hamlyn. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1962. Jerry married the love of his life, Pamela Jo Harrison in Maynard, IA on February 3, 1968.

Jerry retired from Fahr Beverage after 46 years of work as their Warehouse Manager in 2011, most will remember him has their Keg Driver. He was a lifelong, active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Jerry was a very special guy with a heart of gold-he did not know a stranger and was always the first one with his hand out for a handshake or open arms for a warm hug and a kiss. Jerry enjoyed traveling with Pam to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and on bus trips. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, UNI sports teams, and playing golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Betty Brandhorst and Janet Hickman, and brother, Rollie Gorman.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Pam Hamlyn of Cedar Falls; children, Ann (Russell) Sadler of Dunkerton and Brad (Alyssa) Hamlyn of Waterloo; three grandsons, Joshua Hamlyn, Andrew and Caleb Sadler, and several nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo. Burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery-Waterloo.
