Janine Rae Benjamin

Janine Rae Benjamin, 83, of Waterloo, died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Friendship Village Wellspring Living. She was born April 10, 1941, in Waterloo, daughter of Leland and Ida (Neff) Bailey. She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1959.

Janine married Neil Benjamin on May 14, 1960, at Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church. She worked at Rath Packing Company from 1959 to 1962, and Ridgeway Hardware store from 1975 to 1994.

She was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she had been active in both chime and chancel choirs and other activities at the church. She was a companion for Marjorie Enos, Virginia Phelps, and Anne Lanich. She also volunteered at Friendship Village as a companion on the wheelchair van and at the Lodge with Bingo once a week.

Janine is survived by her husband, Neil; one daughter, Janell (Robert) Bergman of Maynard, two sons: David (Kim) Benjamin of Long Grove, IL, and Michael (Kari) Benjamin of Arlington Heights, IL; seven grandchildren: Bailey (Jesika) Bushman, Ben Bergman, Matthew Benjamin, Abigail Benjamin, Maxwell Benjamin, Lauren Benjamin, and Kathryn Benjamin; a sister-in-law, Karen Benjamin; brothers-in-law, Blair Benjamin, and Charles Cutsforth; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers David Bailey, and Phillip Bailey; sisters Annette Weatherman Moore and Carolee Cutsforth; sisters-in-law Joan Bailey, JaVone Bailey, and Carol Benjamin; brother-in-law Keith Benjamin; and nephews, Matthew Weatherman, and Curtis Weatherman
