James “Jim” Koleno, 76, Dunkerton, IA, died at University of IA Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.
He was born September 20, 1942, in Protivin, IA, son of John F. and Lillian Krall Koleno. He served in the United States Navy, 1959-1963.
Jim married Mary L. Keller and they later divorced. He married Linda L. Homann March 19, 1976 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waverly.
Jim worked for 39 years for a small equipment company in Waverly.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo where he served as a deacon and was on the building and grounds committee. He was also active in “The Willing Workers.”
He enjoyed motorcycles, collecting Dodge memorabilia; hunting, fishing, camping — anything outdoors; and bowling. Jim enjoyed working with his hands and could fix just about anything. He refurbished a badly damaged boat that the family enjoyed.
Jim is survived by wife, Linda Koleno‚ Dunkerton‚ IA; daughter, Brooke (Licon Opperman) Koleno‚ New Hartford‚ IA; sons, Mike (Mary) Raymer‚ McAlester‚ OK; and Patrick (Kate) Raymer‚ Estacada‚ OR; sisters, Dorothy Lubenstein‚ Anchorage‚ AK, Susie (Wendell) Lampson‚ Ionia‚ IA, and Sally (Mike) Austin‚ Waverly; a sister-in-law, Edna Koleno‚ New Hampton‚ IA; 7 grandchildren, Mariana and Maria Carillo, Nick, Brandon, Britton, Taylor and Chase Raymer; and 1 great-granddaughter, Aurora Raymer.
He is preceded in death by a son, Brent Koleno; brothers, John “Jack” Koleno and Joseph Koleno; grandson, Paxton Miller; and brother in law: Earl Lubenstein.
