Ida Lucille Brunson

Ida L. Brunson, 87, of Denver, formerly of Mallard Point, Cedar Falls, died Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Denver Sunset Nursing Home.

She was born January 11, 1936, in Waterloo, daughter of Amos and Ruth Hanlon Lubert. Ida graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1954. She honorably served her country in the U.S. Army. Ida married Roy Brunson on July 12, 1958, in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on September 29, 1991.

Ida worked at the front desk for several years for the Allens Women's Health Center. She also worked at Waterloo Industries and Peoples Clinic.

She was a former president of the Women's Eagles Auxiliary in Poulsbo, Washington and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Parish in Waterloo.

Ida is survived by one son, Scott (Stephanie) Brunson of Waterloo; four daughters, Jan Walters of Indianola, Cheryl (Randy) Bogardus of Gilbertville, Bobbi (Richard) Starkey of Bourbonnais, IL, and Anita (Vince) Kirby of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wanda Stahl of Waterloo.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; one son, Dusty Brunson; three sisters, Eileen Wagner, Rita Hack, and Darlene, in infancy; and one son-in-law, Steve Walters.
