Homer (Homz) S. Lord, age 65, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family in Waterloo IA, on Monday, June 10, 2024. He was born March 29, 1959, in Anchorage, Alaska to Walter and Etta Mae Lord. He was a 1977 graduate of not only West Valley High School but also Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Homz graduated from Boise State University in Boise, Idaho in 1984, with a Bachelor of Arts and minored in Physical Education. He married his wife, Barbara (Barb) Lord, on August 7th, 1993, in Morrison, Colorado. Homz was a magnificent teacher for a little under 30 years. He was exceptional at teaching art and PE to children grades K-12. Homz truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; He loved wrestling, Judo, Art, taking pictures, traveling, talking with friends, spending time with family and most of all HE LOVED TO DANCE!! From 1989 to 2019 Homz and Barb were a part of Marla's Country Gold Dancers and performed dance routines all over Colorado.
Homer (Homz) is survived by his wife, Barbara Lord; two stepdaughters, Irene (Mike) McGinn and Tammy Wulf; grandchildren, Matt (Kristen) Delay, Joe (Jen) Pittman, Crystal Snyder, Ryan Snyder, Alyssa McGinn, Jessica McGinn; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Demetrius, Giovanni, Stella, and Waylon.
Family and friends are more than welcome to come celebrate his life with us at the Evansdale AMVET Post #31 in Evansdale, Iowa from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024, to reminisce, grieve, and support each other. Homer will be laid to rest with his family at the Nenana Native Cemetery in Alaska.
