Hattie Odessa Boesen

Hattie O. Boesen, 84, of Waterloo, died Saturday, October 9, 2021, at the Heartland Home in Moline, Illinois. She was born November 14, 1936, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, daughter of Willie and Betty (Estes) Dotson. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1955. She married John W. Boesen Sr. on February 4, 1956, in Paw Creek, North Carolina. Together, they raised a family and after retirement they traveled the United States extensively in their travel trailer. John died October 24, 2019.

Hattie was a homemaker, Cub Scout leader and a member of Allen Hospital's Mended Hearts. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was a LWML member and past secretary, taught Sunday School, on the visitation committee, and active with the Keepsake Quilters Guild. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family.

Hattie is survived by her sons, John W. (Barbara) Boesen Jr. of Gastonia, NC, Charles R. (Shelley) Boesen of Donahue, IA, and Donald L. (Lori) Boesen of Owatonna, MN; eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica, Amber, Alisa, Jacob, Taylor Lynne, Aaron, and Taylor; four great grandchildren: Amber, Robin, Logan and Hudson; a brother, Melton (Joan) Dotson; and sisters, Lorene Ward and Nancy Helms.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers, Charles (Judy) Dotson, Robert (LaVonne) Dotson, and James (Kathy) Dotson; brothers-in-law, Harold Ward and John Helms; her parents, Willie and Betty Dotson; and her in laws, Roy and Edna Boesen.
