Garry Kim Stoelting

Garry K. Stoelting, 85, of Waterloo, died Sunday, November 16, 2025, at home under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.

Garry was born on August 13, 1940, in Clay County, Indiana, the son of Stanley Stoelting and Wilma Thompson Stoelting. He married Mary Nelson on February 14, 1965, in Washburn and the couple was blessed with two daughters. Garry served in the US Air Force from 1961 until 1965.

Garry retired from John Deere in 1997 where he worked as a machine repairman. He was a member of UAW Local 838.

Garry is survived by his daughters, Christine (Shawn) Birch of Friendswood, TX and Karen (David) Shepherd of Oceanside, CA; five grandchildren, Bryce Evans, Faith Birch, Riley, Kyle, and Abbey Shepherd; and two sisters, Betty McCullough of Milton, FL and Janet (Doug) Fisher of Bloomington, MN. He was preceded by his wife, Mary, and his brothers Stanley Morris Stoelting and Aubrey Stoelting.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Locke Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo, with burial with military honors to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5-7 PM at Locke Garden View Chapel. Memorial contributions should be directed to the family.
