Gail Pauline Sommerfeldt

Gail Pauline Sommerfeldt, 92, of Waterloo, died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Nation Cottages by Western Home Communities. She was born December 23, 1927 in Waukesha, WI the daughter of Glen and Cloe Williams Woodcock. She was a 1946 graduate of Chippewa Falls High School.

She married Elmer Sommerfeldt on August 23, 1947 in Eau Claire, WI; he preceded her in death on January 25, 2005.

Gail worked as a cashier for Eagles Grocery Store, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waterloo, where she was the Sunday School Administrator and one of the “pie ladies”. She enjoyed traveling.

Survived by: two daughters, Janet Callaway and Deborah (Steve) Petersen both of Waterloo; two sons, Michael (Tami) Sommerfeldt of Waterloo, Jeffrey (Lori) Sommerfeldt of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, Charles (Molly) Callaway, Gretchen Callaway, Sarah (Scott) Shapiro, Matthew Sommerfeldt, Jacob Petersen, Joey Petersen, Paige Sommerfeldt, Aubrey Sommerfeldt; four great grandchildren, Hunter Heiple, Luke and Bo Callaway and Troy Petersen; one brother, William (Cathy) Woodcock of Chippewa Falls, WI; three sisters, Norma Kressin of Eau Claire, WI, Maxine (Gary) Rooney of Appleton, WI, Judy (Bob) Boettcher of Chippewa Falls, WI.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; three brothers, Lawrence, Lyle and Russell Woodcock and one sister, Verda Frederick.
