Fern Maxine Guild

Fern Guild, 98, of Waterloo died Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Bickford Cottage Assisted Living in Cedar Falls.

She was born January 29, 1925, in Randalia, daughter of Floyd and Edythe (Van Sickle) Hack. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1944.

Fern married Leslie B. Guild December 7, 1946, at Burton Ave. Baptist Church in Waterloo; he died March 22, 2008. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband after their retirement.

She is survived by two sons, Kent Guild of Cedar Falls, and Rolland Guild of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Cary (Jerry) Douglas of Ankeny, Kortney (Luella) Guild of Denver, Alicia Guild of St. Paul, MN, John (Heather) Guild of Dallas, TX, and Jay (Debbie) Guild of Urbandale; a sister, June Wilkins of Johnston; and a brother, David (Brenda) Hack of Idaho.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and three sisters, Evelyn Hack, Clara Hasbrouck, and Thelma Jones.

A memorial gathering will take place 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 22, 2024, at Locke Garden View Chapel Waterloo. A private family burial look place in late 2023 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.
