Earnestine L. Anderson, the eldest of 8 children, was born on July 10, 1935 to the late Nelson and Vernice (Burres) Shegog. She attended Marks Industrial School in Marks, MS until she relocated to Waterloo, IA.
Earnestine was united in marriage to Joe Willie Anderson Sr. on June 26, 1958 in Preston, MN. She was a Domestic Engineer where she worked for the Ramada Inn for 25+ years. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Valley Queen Baptist Church in Marks, MS. There Earnestine attended Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a part of B.T.U. (Baptist Training Union). Later, she joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Waterloo, IA under the leadership of Dr. Rev. Eugene H. Williams. After moving to Aurora, CO she then joined King Baptist Church.
Earnestine loved to listen to many genres of music, reading her bible, watching her son Joe and grandsons play football.
Earnestine had a nurturing and caring spirit. She was always willing to help and comfort others in times of sorrow and need. During visitations and phone calls she would tell them she would keep them in prayer. She would also remind them to trust and believe that God would make a way.
Earnestine leaves a legacy of love to cherish her memory. She passes on her love through:
her loving children, Edward C. (Deborah) Shegog of Calumet City, IL; Willastine L. Parker of Waterloo, IA; Joe W. (Stephanie) Anderson Jr.; Michael J. Anderson; Valerie L. Grigsby;
John T. (Raye) Anderson all of Aurora, CO; her stepdaughters, JoElla Anderson of Aurora, CO; Deann (James) Evans and Diane Reed of Waterloo, IA; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Dr. Barbara Shegog of Chicago, IL; a sister-in-law, Doris Anderson of Waterloo, IA; a son-in-law, Hershell Parker; a very special cousin, Jeanette Beal; her very best friends, Robel Wright, Audrey Rainey, Earlie Mae Brown of Waterloo, IA; a host of relatives and friends.
Earnestine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, friend and a Child of God. She was preceded in death by her husband (Joe Willie Anderson Sr.); mother (Vernice); father (Nelson); as well as her sisters, Ruby McClelland, Mary Alice Northington, Lou Ethel Shegog, Charlene Shegog, Thelma Shegog-Shannon, a brother, Willie Wesley Shegog; and a very special friend, Marion McClendon.
