Earl E. Stattelman, 84, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, surrounded by his family under St. Croix Hospice at NorthCrest Specialty Care.
Earl was born on July 1, 1940, at the old St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo, to Edwin G. and Evelyn L. (Wolf) Stattelman and graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1958. Earl married Ellamae Huppert on October 14, 1961, in Preston, MN; she preceded him in death on February 2, 2018.
From 1969 until 1990, Earl worked at Chamberlin Manufacturing and went on to spend the rest of his career working for Eagle Ottawa Tanning, where he worked as a quality assurance manager, retiring in 2006. Earl was a hard-working family man, and early on in his career, while working a fulltime job at Chamberlin Manufacturing, he served as the Chief of Police for the Gilbertville Police Department from 1971-1981. In his spare time, Earl enjoyed being outdoors fishing and tinkering in his garage making "uglies" as his wife, Ellamae would call his creations.
He is also preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Gary, and Lawrence Stattelman.
Earl is survived by his daughter, Terry (Duane) Wooden of Hudson; sons, Patrick Stattelman and Allan (Patricia Slick) Stattelman, both of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Bradley Wooden of Hudson and Stephanie (Jared) Hoppe of Washburn; three great grandchildren, Eli Freeman, Ava and Dallas Hoppe; sister, Gail Boyle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Locke Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Ave, Waterloo.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Locke Garden View Chapel. Burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery-Waterloo.
